If you truly enjoy Tarkov, and you see yourself playing it a lot, I say go for EOD. Even if you skip a wipe and come back later, the value remains imo. Not sure how much prepare for escape is but you’ll pay the difference multiplied by whatever the discount percent is. I upgraded from standard to EOD and I think it was like $50-70 or so.

Start playing now and develop a strategy that works for you. 3 EOD is nice but not needed. Having a standard will teach you some stash managing skills. It’ll let you consider what to keep and not keep depending on the price of items/what you run. EOD will give you advantages but won’t make you a better player.

It doesn't hurt to have some basic understanding of chemistry and 7th grade math skills, but really there isn't much you can prepare for.
